Wedding updates: Thank you, Brian and Emily

August 11th, 2006

At our wedding, Brian mentioned that, for their own upcoming wedding, he and Julie were dividing their friends into “dork” and “super-dork” tables. When I was typing the heading for this post, I accidentally spelled Brian’s name as “Brain” at first. Just an aside.

We are thanking Brian because he sent us pictures from the wedding. He noticed I didn’t have a picture of my hair, so he sent me one that he finds “rather amusing in its own right.” You decide:

We are thanking Emily because, according to Emily, we are now officially married. In spite of the fact that she forgot to bring the license to the wedding, it all turned out well. (Matt and I had already signed it.) She dropped it off yesterday (Auntie Jeanne “witnessed”), and we’re all good. How exciting!

We’re having so much fun. . .

. . . we thought we’d stay a while.

Our original plan was to hang out in Fort Bragg until Wednesday night, then head home Thursday. We figured we wouldn’t be able to take much more of the dogs. However, they’re being angels, and we’re enjoying ourselves, so we found somewhere to stay until Saturday.   :)

I’m allowed to rub it in, because I just got married.

What came out of Kim’s hair

As I have no actual pictures from the wedding, if you weren’t there, you can’t see my hair. What you can see, however, is:

A. The bobby pins that came out of it,

Hairpins

and

B. How my hair looked without pins, but before washing.

Married!

August 6th, 2006

It’s official. Matt and I got married today at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. Although it was sunny yesterday, today it was overcast and cold. However, that’s good for pictures (or so I hear). I don’t have any pictures, being in the wedding and all, except for the pictures we took of Philip and Henry for the table numbers. . . the one that follows is my favorite.

We got a license!

July 14th, 2006

So we can get married now! Matt and I headed into San Francisco to get a marriage license. We booked an 11:30 appointment at City Hall via the internet. The website says that if you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, you will have to rebook (and repay). So, in our paranoia, we left our house at 8:00.

We arrived at the Civic Center Plaza at 10:30. After a futile search for a bathroom (the library was closed and the Burger King’s was broken), we sat in the plaza until our appointment. We went in early, about 11:10, were promptly served, and headed out at 11:36, licence in hand. That was easy.

After we dropped off the license with Auntie Jeanne so that Emily can get deputized (and partook of tasty BLTs), we headed home. Early, so we could miss traffic. Of course, there were four accidents on the way home, so it took 2.5 hours. Home, sweet home.
